Proof of Work (PoW) mining is the activity of using hardware and resources to process transactions and create transaction blocks. To get started, you must have a computer with a video card (GPU).
On average, miners receive a reward that is proportional to the computational power (hash rate) of their mining system and the total hash rate of the network. The higher your hash rate, the higher your rewards.

Mining in a pool
Smart miners do not operate alone. Solo miners hardly get paid. When you mine in a pool, your hashrate is combined with all the other pool members. You will receive a reward based on the amount of ‘work’ you put into the Decred mining pool. Pool mining distributes the rewards more fairly, so you can earn a steady amount of DCR rather than the “all or nothing” of solo mining
